More Information

WordPress has two basic post types that it ships with.  These are pages and posts. All WordPress posts have to belong to at least one category.  Categories are supposed to be named based on your site’s niche.  So a cooking site might have categories of dessert, starter, main and drinks.

But when a new site is set up WordPress has no idea what you will want to name your categories so it starts out with one default category called uncategorized.   Many people never change this.

It’s a good idea to change this category to Blog in the first instance, as nearly every site has a blog.  You can always add more categories later, or rename the Blog category to something else. Just don't leave it as "uncategorized".
